Ida Kavafian, violin


The versatile violinist/violist Ida Kavafian is an Artist-Member of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, former violinist of the Beaux Arts Trio, co-founder of TASHI, Bravo! Colorado and OPUS ONE, Artistic Director of Music from Angel Fire and faculty at the Curtis Institute and Bard College.

The versatile violinist/violist Ida Kavafian is an Artist-Member of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, former violinist of the Beaux Arts Trio, co-founder of TASHI, Bravo! Colorado and OPUS ONE, Artistic Director of Music from Angel Fire and faculty at the Curtis Institute and Bard College.

Born in Istanbul, Turkey of Armenian descent, she has premiered, toured and recorded many new works by such diverse composers as Toru Takemitsu, Michael Daugherty, Chick Corea, Wynton Marsalis and Mark O’Connor, and was presented in her debut by Young Concert Artists.  Married to violist Steven Tenenbom, their hobby is raising prize-winning purebred vizsla dogs.
