Born in New York City of Korean parents, Eric Kim made his solo debut at age 15 with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and has since then served as principal cellist of the Cincinnati, San Diego, and Denver symphonies. He has performed widely as a recitalist, chamber musician, and soloist with orchestra, and collaborated with Emanuel Ax, Yefim Bronfman, Susan Graham, Lynn Harrell, and Gil Shaham, as well as with members of the Emerson, Guarneri, and Orion string quartets. He serves on the faculty of Indiana University and coaches the next generation of symphonic cellists at t he New World Symphony in Miami Beach.
