David Dash, trumpet


David Dash is the assistant principal trumpet of the Naples Philharmonic and a member of the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra. He was a member of “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band and has performed frequently with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed with the Atlanta and San Francisco symphonies. He has recorded for Koch International, Albany Records, and the Marine Band. Dash has degrees from Rice University and the Manhattan School of Music. His teachers include Armando Ghitalla and Robert Sullivan.

David Dash is the assistant principal trumpet of the Naples Philharmonic and a member of the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra. He gives several annual recitals with the Naples Philharmonic Brass Quintet and performs frequently in a duo with his fiancée, trumpeter Mary Bowden. They recently premiered Awakenings by James Stephenson, written for two trumpets and organ. David was previously a member of “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band where he performed as a soloist and toured much of the United States. While in Washington DC, he frequently performed with the Baltimore Symphony where he acted as their “first call” substitute. He has also performed with the Atlanta and San Francisco symphonies. Festivals include the Orchestra Institute in Attergau, Austria, and the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival. David received his Bachelor’s degree from Rice University where he studied with Armando Ghitalla. He received his Master’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music where he studied with Robert Sullivan. While at Manhattan David performed with a wide variety of groups in New York and New Jersey. David’s first instrument was the piano, and he still plays this instrument at home.
