A distinguished orchestral and chamber musician, Bart Feller currently performs as principal flutist of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and the New York City Opera Orchestra. He has released a recording, 20th Century Duos, featuring works by Villa-Lobos, Persichetti, Hindemith, Roussel, Muczyinski and others. He is principal flute with the Santa Fe Opera. He has released a recording, 20th Century Duos, featuring works by Villa-Lobos, Persichetti, Hindemith, Roussel, Muczyinski and others. He is principal flute with the Santa Fe Opera. Previously Mr. Feller served as principal flute with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra and the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. In the New York area he has performed with Bargemusic, the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, New York Festival of song and the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. He has been featured in flute recitals in Texas, Tennessee, North Carolina, Minnesota, New York and at the Washington, Nashville and Boston National Flute Association conventions, including several performances honoring his teacher, master flutist Julius Baker. A well-traveled soloist, Mr. Feller hash appeared with the Philadelphia Orchestra, New Jersey Symphony, Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Stamford Symphony, Jupiter Symphony, Southeastern Ohio Symphony Orchestra, Brooklyn Symphony and the Park Avenue Chamber Symphony. His summer activities include performances at the Grand Teton Music Festival, OK Mozart International Festival, Colorado Music Festival, Bellingham Festival, Hartwick Music Festival and at the Hudson Highlands, Colorado College and Napa Valley Chamber Music festivals. He has been a featured guest artist at the Florida Flute Fair, playing recitals and teaching master classes. A student of John Krell and Julius Baker at the Curtis Institute of Music, Mr. Feller has also coached extensively with Keith Underwood. He is on the flute faculty of Rutgers University/Mason Gross School of the Arts and the Pre-College Division of the Juilliard School. He regularly offers repertoire classes in the Orchestral Performance program at the Manhattan School of Music. He has also presented master classes at the Cleveland Institute of Music, Carnegie-Mellon University, University of North Texas, East Tennessee State University, Rhodes College, University of Michigan and the Mid-Atlantic Flute Fair. 20th Century Duos is his second solo CD; the first, Elysian Fields, was released in 1999. Additionally, he has recorded with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, New Jersey Symphony, Bargemusic and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.
